Until I got into AquaFit, I had done very little physical activity. I had dabbled in a few things, but nothing really ‘stuck’. I’ve had two hip replacements so am somewhat limited – I can’t walk long distances or stand for too long, so that can make it quite hard to get moving with regards to some traditional activities. I haven’t let that stop me, though, and have definitely found my niche with AquaFit. I have even started volunteering at the class by helping the instructors to take registrations and putting the gear out and away.

AquaFit is a great workout and doesn’t place stress on my joints, so it’s perfect for me. The classes are very social and I’ve met lots of people and made new friends through my participation. We all love to have a bit of a laugh and we don’t take things too seriously. The classes are about moving our bodies and having fun together – there’s no competition or judgement, just fun and a few laughs.

Being active is important to me. I want to live a healthy life and movement is a big part of that. Being physically active makes me feel so good and invigorated. The feeling I get after I have completed a class is great and it keeps me going back. I plan to keep on with my Aquacise classes for as long as I can.

If there are any older women out there thinking about what they might be able to do to get moving a little more, I would definitely suggest AquaFit classes. If you are hesitant, just come along and give it a try. I love it! I have never done much exercise, so if I can do it, you can to!
